Nathan also claims that he programmed her to be straight, but that's not very interesting to me especially considering something he says about her in the screenplay which is that she's not a woman but a machine, so I'm interested in playing her exploring with gender, both for herself and her partners.

Ava is no stronger than a human and even her robotic body is about as fragile as a human's, if not more so – Nathan was able to sever her arm completely off with a blunt force blow, which probably would not happen, were she a human being. She has no fighting skills of her own, but notably does not feel pain, and doesn't have the same self-preservation instincts as a human. She has them, but they work differently.

>://MINDREADING Kind of a complicated one – she has a brain and thoughts in that brain, but it really depends on how your character's mindreading works and what would be more interesting for us both as players. I'm happy to play that your character with mindreading capabilities can't access her thoughts because she is a machine and not a human being, or conversely that your character can somehow read her thoughts despite her nature. Let's talk about it!

>://NOTE Unless otherwise stated, Ava has the full appearance of a normal person, and it is not immediately obvious that she is anything but human. I'm happy for characters to notice that she's not human if you think that would be a reasonable thing for your character to deduce! Up close, she emits a very soft, very muffled whirring sound, which is audible to anyone at all with hearing, provided they're close enough to her. It's hard to place where exactly it comes from.
